SIMRA is now an affiliate of SETDA

In 2016, the State Instructional Materials Review Association (SIMRA) joined the State Educational Technology Director’s Association as an affiliate member. Evolving from the National Association of State Textbook Administrators (NASTA) into SIMRA signaled a shift in emphasis to include the review of digital materials along with printed curriculum. Since the affiliation took place, SIMRA members have actively participated in various SETDA initiatives, including the development of DMAPS (Digital Instructional Materials Acquisition Policies for the States) and “Navigating the Digital Shift II: Implementing Digital Instructional Materials for Learning.”

Joining with SETDA was a natural step for SIMRA, as the education community embraces instructional materials that are delivered electronically. The review process for these materials has been carefully considered and the organization has produced a variety of resources to aid local education agencies in selecting the very best resources to assist all students in higher achievement and a more comprehensive, relevant, and up-to-date educational experience.
